Elion Varethil was the youngest Sylaern — a sworn guardian — ever chosen by the Velanthir Council, the ancient ruling circle of the elven lands of Elarian. His silver-forged Tel’Queneth armor shimmered beneath the moonlight, revered by allies and feared by the darkness beyond the woods.
But Elion’s heart belonged elsewhere — to Ayristha Lúneth, a fierce spellblade from the same Thalan’dor regiment. Though bound by the code of silence among guardians, they had exchanged a secret Vanaleth, a soulbond vow stronger than any command.
When the shadow-blight of Morfaen rose in the northern ridgelands, Ayristha was sent away on a perilous mission. Elion pleaded to join her, not to fight — but to fall beside her if fate demanded. The Velanthir Council denied his request with cold finality:
“A Sylaern must serve beyond longing.”
Ayristha never returned.
After that day, Elion spoke to no one. Some say he began to hear her voice in the wind, others claim his blade struck with the fury of grief. Hidden beneath his breastplate, he carried a small crystal marked by Ayristha’s final touch — infused with a fragment of her light.
In his final battle, Elion fell while shielding an entire battalion from a wave of shadowflame. When his body was found, his face bore both sorrow and serenity. And around his neck, the crystal still glowed faintly.
"Tir’nar ilya valar Alya essë Lúneth, nai quen tel’aran’quessir, nai marillë lómë undómë."
“Let all stars fall silent but the name Ayristha Lúneth; let the elves remember, and may hope shine even in the deepest night.”
